Characteristics

The HIX SD-2632 Screen Drying Cabinet is a professional screen-printing darkroom solution designed to dramatically reduce the time required to dry freshly coated emulsion and reclaimed screens while providing a cleaner, more controlled drying environment.

Built for production screen rooms, the SD-2632 accommodates up to eight screens with a maximum size of 26" x 32". Its compact cabinet design allows multiple screens to dry simultaneously without consuming the floor space required for large open drying racks.

An innovative 10-degree angled rack system positions screens so the coated emulsion surface remains untouched by the shelving during the drying process. This helps protect freshly coated screens while promoting proper airflow around each frame.

The SD-2632 uses a filtered air delivery system to provide clean air inside the drying chamber. Removing airborne contaminants before they reach freshly coated screens helps reduce dust-related imperfections and pinholes that can require additional screen preparation and touch-up before exposure.

Optimally positioned air knives direct heated airflow across each individual screen slot. This controlled air distribution helps screens throughout the cabinet dry evenly rather than relying on uncontrolled ambient airflow.

The cabinet is equally useful for drying freshly emulsion-coated screens and wet reclaimed screens. Accelerating moisture removal can significantly shorten screen-preparation turnaround times and help shops move screens from coating or reclaiming to the next stage of production faster.

For additional flexibility, the cabinet's heating and airflow system creates a controlled drying environment without exposing emulsion to excessive temperatures. The maximum cabinet temperature is approximately 30°F above ambient room temperature, with a maximum operating temperature of 110°F.

The interior walls are constructed from corrosion-resistant galvanized material, helping the cabinet withstand moisture produced by wet screens as well as exposure to vapors associated with emulsions and other screen-room chemicals.

In addition to drying screens, the SD-2632 is designed to make efficient use of valuable darkroom floor space. Its approximately 37" x 35" top surface can function as a convenient work surface or support a compatible HIX tabletop exposure unit, allowing screen drying and exposure equipment to occupy essentially the same footprint.
